Steps to reproduce:

When I try to add an additional email account to Thunderbird (Version 140.1.1esr 64bit) the dialog fails with error and freezes. Steps:

  • I open "New account->Email"
  • the new Account Hub dialog starts and I enter the new email address I want to add
  • dialog failes with error "Authentication failed. Please check the username and password" and freezes
    but there is no possibility to enter username and password in this new dialog.

Actual results:

Expected results:

offer the possibility to enter username and password in this new dialog
or offer the possibility to switch to old add email dialog.

By chance I found that the upgrade from TB128esr to TB140esr automatically enabled the experimental feature "Account Hub" in the settings (see screenshot attachment "TB140_AccountHub.png"). Disabling this option manually brought back the old and working email account procedure.
