Steps to reproduce

  1. Download latest .exe file for latest Nightly on ARM device A and connect it with an MS account on One drive
  2. Install latest Nightly
  3. Click on YES in the UAC prompt
  4. Check the Desktop shortcut
  5. Install a fresh Windows 11 on Device B and connect it to the same Microsoft account as above
  6. Wait a bit so that OneDrive restores its files
  7. Click on the Firefox icon from device B

Expected result

  • Mozilla official site should open with the default browser.
    Actual result
  • An error message is displayed.

The desktop launcher EXE should always be compiled as x86 (32-bit)... just like the stub installer. That way it will work on all variants of Windows 10 and Windows 11.

I'd put this at S3 since it's pretty bad but (as I understand) we're figuring more people are going to go x86/x64 → ARM than the other way around.

Fix is to make this an x86 binary, doable in theory but biggest problem is getting the build system to do it.
