User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:142.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/142.0

Steps to reproduce:

Don't know what causes this. Seemingly at random.

Other users reporting similar in this Reddit thread https://old.reddit.com/r/firefox/comments/1muiez7/firefox_1420_see_all_new_features_updates_and/

Operating system is Window 11, fully up to date.

Actual results:

A number of toolbar buttons will cease to function (won't respond to clicking). These are back, forward, refresh and options

When I click on address bar and input a suggestion, I am also unable to click on the results.

Have to close and re-open Firefox to restore functionality.

Hi Paul,

While the browser is responsive, are you able to visit about:support and click "Copy Text to Clipboard", and then paste the contents here as a comment in this bug (or in an attachment to the bug)?

Also, do keyboard shortcuts for back/fwd/refresh (ctrl-r on Windows) still work in this situation?

And also, are you using a multi-monitor setup by any chance?

Also, do keyboard shortcuts for back/fwd/refresh (ctrl-r on Windows) still work in this situation?

And also, are you using a multi-monitor setup by any chance?

I've been experiencing this bug for a few days, I am using a multi-monitor setup, the workaround Ed posted below works, but only if I drag the tab from one monitor to the other one (most of the time I use Firefox on both monitors).
Not sure how to replicate it either, I'll update if I get any insights or find a way to replicate it.

For people who are still experiencing this, when the browser enters this state, the Browser Console might contain some vital information to help us determine what's happening.

On Windows and Linux, the console can be opened by hitting Ctrl-Shift-J (I believe this should still work even if the toolbar is unresponsive).
On macOS, the console can be opened by hitting Cmd-Shift-J.

What we're looking for is text in the console that might have anything to do with the toolbar or tab strip. Errors are helpful, but if you're not sure and you're willing, the entire console might contain useful information.

Here's what in my console after pressing Ctrl + Shift + J on windows 11.

Hi all,

Today's dot release (142.0.1) went out today with a fix that we think will alleviate the issue for users who have been hitting it. Please give it a try and let us know!

Is there anybody cc'd on this bug still experiencing this issue with 142.0.1?

Paul, do you still experience this issue on latest 142.0.1? Thank you.
