User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:143.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/143.0
Steps to reproduce:
Update from 142 final to 143 beta. Also reproduced on a separate system updating from 141 beta to 143 beta.
Actual results:
The update results in a shortcut named Firefox.exe being created on the desktop. It appears this only occurs in a standard user account (so am wondering if bug 1982323 is related).
Expected results:
Shortcut creation should occur during fresh install, but not when updating an existing install as this is likely to create a superfluous or unwanted shortcut.

The Bugbug bot thinks this bug should belong to the 'Toolkit::Application Update' component, and is moving the bug to that component. Please correct in case you think the bot is wrong.

Desktop shortcut related problems starting in 143 are almost certainly related to Bug 1968279, which landed at that time.

Marking this one resolved, but feel free to add details over there, if we're missing anything.
Thanks!
