RESOLVED DUPLICATE of bug 1982060

Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:143.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/143.0

Steps to reproduce:

I updated Dev Edition from 142 to 143.0b7.

Actual results:

Upon update, custom desktop shortcut was replaced with a shortcut named Firefox Developer Edition.exe. All previously configured command line parameters in the shortcut were gone, e.g. -p <profile_name> -private-window etc. And the new shortcut was placed in the wrong location on the screen.

Expected results:

Firefox update should preserve shortcut with its parameters like it used to do.

Windows 10 22H2 x64
Firefox Dev Edition 143.0b7

@cdupuis I believe that this will be fixed in Bug 1982060. Can you please confirm?

Walter, we could not reproduce the issue on neither Win10/Win11 when upgrading from 142.0b9 to 143.0b8 on 'dev' channel. Did you make specific changes before the update? Do you think that an update from 142.0 to 143.beta was performed earlier before latest update to 143.0b7 ? Thank you.

:mchoiorean This would have been due to the Desktop Launcher replacing the Firefox shortuct.
