Steps to reproduce:

Based on SUMO reports.

  1. Turn on Firefox Sync so that Firefox somehow ends up with a folder containing another folder with the same name as it or one of its ancestors.
  2. Bring up Spotlight with cmd+space.

Actual results:

Spotlight tries to index or query bookmarks through LaunchServices and ends up in an infinite loop resolving folder hierarchies. As a result, macOS kills Firefox for exceeding the RAM limit.

Spotlight successfully finishes indexing, not causing Firefox to crash.
