Affecting all Thunderbird version including Beta...

Step to reproduce:

• Disable "Keep message in all folders for this account on this computer" in IMAP account settings > Synchronisation & Storage
• Wait for process to complete (can take a while on a large mailbox)
• Restart Thunderbird
• Create a new folder in the Inbox

Expected result:

• The folder should be created with the "Select this folder for offline use" option disabled (according to user choice above in account settings)

What happens instead:

• The folder is created with the "Select this folder for offline use" option enabled

Ideally:

The new folder dialog window where you enter the folder name, should show the "Select this folder for offline use" option with a preset value according to user choice as per account settings. Enabled if Keep message is enabled, and vice-versa. With the ability for end-user to disable or enable according to his choice for that particular folder if needed.

This way end-users can transparently choose the appropriate offline use option of their preference at folder creation using default as per user choice in account settings.

This would be much more intuitive and natural way to handle offline use option on newly created folders, instead of Thunderbird making wrong assumptions and set option contrary to user choice.

Also when you setup a new IMAP account and access the advance options to choose to disable the offline use in the account settings > synchronisation, it does not set the option correctly for all folders. Indeed, as soon as you access the global option, the mailbox folders are being populated and message being downloaded even before the end-user made a choice in term of offline use. So you end-up with downloaded message he may not want to have downloaded locally and some folders (but not all) are still set with the "Select this folder for offline use" option enabled, despite user-choice to have it disabled by default.
