+++ This bug was created as a spun off from Bug 1994041 +++
Tested on 140.3.1esr and Nightly 145.0a1 (2025-10-11) BuildID 20251011212838.
AFAICT ellipsis should be used whenever an action requires further input.
Currently, clicking on the two menu items open a dismissable prompt that asks the user to "Create tab group".
Chrom(ium)'s implementation doesn't do this either but it's not like you can Bookmark Tab(s)... in Chrom(ium)'s tab context menu.

The Bugbug bot thinks this bug should belong to the 'Firefox::Tabbed Browser' component, and is moving the bug to that component. Please correct in case you think the bot is wrong.

Tagging accessibility for an opinion on whether ellipsis is needed.

Thank you for the tag, :nikkis!
Ellipsis are often used when a text is truncated that using them for the action indication as well may be confusing for users with cognitive disabilities, neurodiverse users, etc. But AFAIK there is no set best practice about the separation of the use cases. I'm checking with the Design Systems team if there is a Firefox-wide recommendation/policy around it.
FWIW there are some (albeit ancient) discussions on Bugzilla on when an ellipsis should be used (e.g. bug 72798 comment 19, bug 135415 comment 7, bug 280071 comment 2, bug 997684 comment 2).

I’ve reproduced this issue in Nightly 146.0a1 on macOS 15. Updating the status to NEW based also on Comment 3 as this is being looked into.
