In Bug 1970905, the uninstall key was rewritten for installations in the default directory: the version number and architecture were removed to improve compatibility with third-party tools such as Windows Backup. This change only applies to installations in the default directory, allowing multiple versions to coexist- each with its own unique registry key- when different versions are installed in different locations.
Bug 1970905 was initially limited to Windows 10, where the issue with third-party tools was first observed. Now that this change has successfully passed all QA testing, this bug was created to enable it across all supported Windows versions.

The uninstall key gets rewritten for installations to the default
installation directory: The version number, architecture and language
are removed from the key in order to improve compatibility with
third-party tools.
