1998615 - New email should open as tab

Steps to reproduce:

When I click the button "New email"

Actual results:

There is open the email editor in an extra window.

The problem is when I write the email, I make some screen shots, and must copy come texts into the email, I must switch between other programs and Thunderbird.
Mostly the Thunderbird Main Window comes on the top and not the editor window.
When I click on the windwos task bar two previews are shown, so I must do always an extra click and the editor window preview.

Expected results:

I want an option/configuration that I can set

• "New email in TAB" <-- new wanted like the calendar
  or
  *New email in extra Window" <- existing

Hello Magnus,

I have try to read the long discussion, but I found no solution?

It don't help to diskuss about the advantages and disadvantages.

The best is to provied both solutions TAB or extra Window with a (hidden Parameter or a new Menu Point, or a short cut)

Yes it's not currently possible, that's why that other bug is still open.
