Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/143.0.0.0 Safari/537.36 Edg/143.0.0.0

Steps to reproduce:

Open Thunderbird 146.0.1.
Navigate to the Calendar tab.
Attempt to create or edit an event or task (in both Window and Tab view).
Try to type or paste a date directly into the date field.

Actual results:

The date field does not accept keyboard input or pasted text in either Window or Tab view.
Dates must be selected using the date picker, which is less efficient and disrupts workflow.

Expected results:

The date field should accept typed or pasted dates in both Window and Tab view, as in previous versions.

Sorry, my bad... only happens for Tasks and not for Calendar entries.

Testing:
Windows 11 OS
Process

  • New Task (or edit)
  • select 'Start' checkbox
  • highlight current date entry
  • Ctrl+V to Copy paste Date entry eg: 12/12/26

Actual Results

  1. Version 140.6.0esr - Works OK - displays 12/12/2026
  2. Version Beta 147.0b3 - Fails - original date remains highlighted - can only modify via date picker.
  3. Version Daily 148.0a1 - Works OK - displays 12/12/2026

Confirm I can reproduce issue in Beta 147.0b3
