It's possible to visibly have focus on the New Tab search box AND the secondary search bar at the same time.
See screenshot.
Steps to reproduce:
- Customize toolbar > add secondary search bar
- Open New Tab
- Focus in search box
- Focus in secondary search bar
Expected:
Focus moves from New Tab search box to secondary search bar
Actual:
Focus visibly stays on New Tab search box, as well as being added to secondary search bar.

Afaik this is independent from bug 1974218, i.e. the legacy implementation behaves the same way. The underlying issue seems to be with the new tab page's fakefocus not getting removed when the page loses focus?

Bisecting with mozregression points to this bug being a regression in Fx 147 from bug 1986130 and fixed in Fx 151 by bug 2025906.
