Initially I was on news.google.com and tried to drag the link from the address
bar to a toolbar or bookmarks menu. This would only create an empty bookmark.
Subsequently, this feature stopped working altogether. i.e. although the mouse
icon and other visual cues indicated a drag drop would occur, a bookmark was not
created when dragging the link to either the menu or toolbar

I think that the feature stops working when you try to drag a link with cgi
variables appended to the address, i.e. www.mypage.com?bug=1
