Affected versions
- Fx 149.0a1
Affected platforms
- Windows
- macOS
- Ubuntu
Pre-conditions
- browser.settings-redesign.enabled set to true
- browser.search.separatePrivateDefault.ui.enabled set to true
Steps to reproduce
- Launch Firefox and navigate to about:preferences#search.
- Click on the drop-down to choose the default search engine for private windows.
- Click on the default search engine drop-down.
Expected result
- Only 1 drop-down is open at a time.
Actual result
- Both drop-downs are opened, causing them to overlap.

Additional notes
- Issue occurs with the browser.settings-redesign.enabled pref set to false.
- Both drop-downs remain open even if the order they're clicked in is reversed.

Moving across to settings UI, I suspect this might be an issue with the custom widget that we have for search engines.

This issue is verified as fixed in Firefox 150.0a1 (20260309092903) on macOS 14, Windows 10, and Ubuntu 22.04, but it is still reproducible in Firefox 149.0b6 (20260309091903) on macOS 14, Windows 10, and Ubuntu 22.04.
