Steps to reproduce
- Set your phone to dark mode (optional, this just makes the colors a bit more distinctive & the bug easier to see)
- Open Firefox Nightly, & notice that the new-tab homepage is blue from the (now-default) Edge to Edge Wallpaper
- Visit some website -- e.g. tap Firefox's shortcut tile for Wikipedia.
- In your Wikipedia tab, tap the address bar (to go into edit-the-URL mode)
- Tap the down-arrow at the bottom left corner of the keyboard.
Expected behavior
Consistent theme across the screen, and no odd flickering.
Actual behavior
After step 4 (when you tap the address bar), the system status-bar (at the top of the screen) and navbar (bottom of the screen) flicker from gray to blue to gray again.
After step 5, when the (gray) keyboard gets dismissed, it reveals a blue navbar at the bottom of the screen. (This stands out as wrong since this navbar was gray when you were viewing Wikipedia, and the rest of the screen [including the status bar] is gray-themed at this point.)
Device information
- Firefox version: Nightly 150.0a1 (2026-03-05)
- Android device model: Pixel 6a, Pixel 10 Pro XL
- Android OS version: 16

Here's a screenshot from my screencast, showing the moment that the top/bototm-bars flicker to blue.
(Just before and after this moment, the top/bottom bars are gray; they only appear blue for a brief moment.)

(Marking 149 and 150 as affected since I think this will be a user-facing issue by default in those releases, since that's where this wallpaper became the default in bug 2014189.)

(Marking 149 and 150 as
affected[...] where this wallpaper became the default in bug 2014189.)
(my mistake; 149 is actually unaffected [for now at least] since the specific patch that changed the default didn't make it into 149, per bug 2014189 comment 8.)

:dholbert, since this bug is a regression, could you fill (if possible) the regressed_by field?

I won't be able to have this fixed before the Beta cut. I'll do my best to fix that soon.

I'll request uplift to release as soon as I have QA review.

I am still able to reproduce the issue on the Firefox for Android nightly 152.0a1 from 4/22 using a Pixel 6 (Android 17), and Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4 (Android 16).
Titouan, could you take a look?

Thanks Mira! I opened Bug 2035433 to track this in a different bug, as this one was also about the statusbar background.
