Which "Firefox Backup" tool or KB article do you want to mention?

The Windows 10 end of support article has a "Related articles" section that links to the Back up and transfer your Firefox data to a new device article.

Note: The ability to create backup files is currently only available to users on Windows 10, and the ability to restore backup files is only available on Windows 10 and 11. Additionally, if you have created profiles via the Firefox menu, backup and restore are not yet available.

Hi Alice, It would be this Firefox Backup article: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/firefox-backup

Hi Alice,

Would you like to help with this?

Hi, Kiki. I'll take it if Paul doesn't want it. Paul showed interest in picking this up in the SUMO room on Matrix.

Paul, would you like to work on this one?

See bug 2010297 Resolution: FIXED → 150 Branch. If selectable profile support for backup and restore has been enabled as of Firefox 150 then an edit is needed to the note in the https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/firefox-backup article, to make the last sentence {for not fx150}.

Thank you, Paul. Please go ahead with the revision whenever you have the time.

@Alice Do you want to take on the update on the Firefox backup article?

Oh, please don't mind me. I just realized you submitted a revision already. I just approved it.

Kiki, can you ask the Firefox product team to confirm that the backup and restore features have been re-enabled in fx150? I'm a bit concerned because bug 2010297 only mentions backups.

The patch in the bug mentions both backup and restore, so your revision should be correct.

See https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/firefox-backup/history (a revision is pending review to update the note for fx150 - thanks to Denys).

Backing up a profile to a file is now available to all Windows 10 and 11 users, including those who use the new profile management system.

I can confirm that the Sync settings panel gives me the option to turn on Backup, running Firefox 150 on Windows 11.
