User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.3) Gecko/20030312 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.3) Gecko/20030312 This has happened a few times to me now with my laptop: At home I have a file server, I save most of my stuff to that. At school, I save to my hard drive. When I save to the fileserver, then take my laptop to a place where the fileserver is not accessable, and try to save something, the browser freezes indefinately. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Right click on an image and say "Save Image As" 2. Save the image to a network file server 3. Either remove that network file server from the network, or disconnect from network yourself. 4. Open a page, and try to save an image again as in step 1. Actual Results: The system never times out or reports that the save to location is inaccessable. Expected Results: Mozilla should either silently move to the user's default directory to save to (home in unix, and \Documents & Settings\Username in windows. mozilla should idealy silently move to a default directory. "Access Denied" type errors often shock ther user. It would be more graceful if it just moved, then if the user navigates to that directory it tells them it can't open that location.
It sounds like this is part two of bug 117258.
Could be, but there never appears to be a crash. It's just what appears to be an eternal hang. No error or anything. I have seen this issue with a network drive. It's possible (though I haven't tried it) that this happens with removable media as well.
I see this too, it's not permanent though, but needs patience - upto 6 minutes. I similarly save most stuff to a home server and am on a laptop. Using WinXP home.
Bug 142664, Bug 240644 and Bug 257052 are bugs for similar problem, although product/component is different.
