User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win98; en-US; rv:1.4b) Gecko/20030425 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win98; en-US; rv:1.4b) Gecko/20030425 If I right-click on a newsgroup that I've just subscribed to, and select Mark As Read, the message count becomes blank. If I then click on the arrow next to the server name to collapse the list of newsgroups, and then click on it again, the newsgroup that I just marked as read comes back as it was just after I subscribed to it. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Subscribe to a new newsgroup 2. Right-click on newsgroup name and select Mark As Read 3. Click on arrow next to news server twice Actual Results: News group came back as if I hadn't marked it as read. Expected Results: Newsgroup should have zero messages (or maybe a few if it's a high volume news group). I do not left-click on the newsgroup name first to download headers. I think this is the crux of the problem as after downloading headers the problem doesn't exist. Also, I wonder how often this would happen in real life? Someone subscribing to a newsgroup and then marking it all as read.
