Steps to reproduce:
I understand that there was an intentional UI change in Thunderbird 151 (bugs 2036174 and 2029036):
"this was intentional to increase readability in dark mode and create a consistent visual separation between the side panes and main content".
But the message list in table view is now BLACK, not just darker, but BLACK. In card view it's simply darker and that's fine, but the table view, especially in compact mode, is now difficult to look at as white font on black background is hard on the eyes. This change ruined readability not improved it.
Was it intentional to be BLACK or was it just supposed to be darker and this black background is just an unintended consequence? Please either fix it or give us an option to change the background colors because in its current state it's unbearable. It looks like some high contrast accessibility option and it would be OK to have as an option fro those who need it, but as the default look it's juts really bad.
Thank you.
Actual results:
Updated from 150 to 152 and the message list turned high-contrast black.
Expected results:
The message list should be perhaps slightly darker or have a different tint than the other panes, if you really want to increase visual separation (though it was not needed, it looked fine in 150, I had no problems telling the panes apart) but being black ruins the UI.
