User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Android 13; Mobile; rv:152.0) Gecko/152.0 Firefox/152.0

Steps to reproduce:

Have more that one tab open.
View tabs in Grid view.
Tap and hold on any tab.
See the checkboxes appear with the current one is checked.
Let go.

Actual results:

The checkbox unchecks and all checkboxes disappear, basically resetting the selection process.

Expected results:

The currently selected tab should stay checked and other tab's checkboxes should remain visible to allow selection.

NB. This behaviour is unique to Grid view. List view allows multiple tabs selection as expected.
NB: This is a regression that appeared for me when Firefox Android updated to 152.0 (Build #2016166423), aed3bdab9ffbbc7bd32a0b31dfcc8484783364bb.

Minor update: Grid multi selection sometimes operates as expected, but I can't find a pattern to reproduce the "working" behaviour. It fails more often than not.

Thanks for filing this bug! Does multiselection still work when it's initiated from the 3-dot menu?

It does indeed, yes. (Didn't even notice that down there!) Only long-press is impacted.

I'm able to reproduce, attaching video.

Some kind of screen is briefly popping up on the "failed" long presses

Edit- it looks like the tab appears to flash at the top left of the screen

I've noticed that if you long press and then drag in any direction, this seems to produce the expected selection state

There is a fix for this in 152.0.2, are you still able to reproduce?

Unable to repro with 152.0.2. Tab selection mode is once again stateful when touch is released after long-press. Thanks!

Great, glad to hear it!

QA was unable to reproduce this issue on 152.0.5 build using a Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 (Android 16), Xiaomi Poco X7 Pro (Android 16), and Motorola Moto G30 (Android 12).
