In compact density, the borders of the content area, sidebar, and nav touch the edges of the window. But because the border color of the content does not match the innate border color of the window, the corners of the window seem "dim"; the effective window border is noticeably darker in the corners than along the edges.

On a similar and almost certainly related note, the window border and Nova borders are violently colliding in the upper left corner of the window, with window borders seemingly overlaying the Nova borders.

I think this would be resolved by bug 2055150. Though we're also looking at removing the outer borders in all cases in bug 2062351
