The number next to the shield icon is quite surprising. It is a bit unclear to the user what it means and when shrinking the window size, that number is highlighted more than for example domain.

(When I first time saw the number, I had no idea what it meant, and thus couldn't guess if lower value is somehow "better" than higher value.)

The number represents the number of trackers blocked for the page. We've also received similar feedback it's unclear what the number represents. Showing tracker blocking activity as your browser will be released as experiment to ensure it doesn't harm any Desktop metrics. Then before we roll it out to 100%, we'll address this issue and others listed in https://mozilla-hub.atlassian.net/browse/FELTPY-128
