User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/152.0.0.0 Safari/537.36
Steps to reproduce:
- Receive an email with a PDF attachment.
- Click the attachment to open it in Thunderbird's built-in PDF viewer.
- Choose Print.
- Observe the print preview.
- Send the job to a physical printer.
Environment: Thunderbird 154.0 (64-bit), release channel, Windows 11.
Actual results:
The document renders correctly on screen in the built-in viewer, and the print preview also displays the content correctly. The printer, however, outputs a completely blank page. No error message is shown at any point.
Additional information:
- The same PDF file, saved to disk and printed from Adobe Acrobat Reader, prints correctly. This rules out a corrupted file, a driver fault, and a printer or toner problem.
- The issue affects every PDF attachment opened in the built-in viewer, not one specific document.
- Other document types (Word, web pages) print normally from the same machine and the same printer.
- Thunderbird is fully up to date on the release channel.
This points to the built-in pdf.js viewer rather than to the file, the printer, or the operating system.
Workaround: right-click the attachment, choose "Open with", and select an external PDF reader. Printing from the external reader produces correct output.
Expected results:
The printed page should match what is shown in the viewer and in the print preview.
