Thunderbird’s permissions dialogs currently interpret a scheme-less entry such as example.com as http://example.com only. Consequently, the permission does not apply when the resource uses HTTPS, which is surprising and differs from Firefox.
Port Firefox’s behavior from Bug 1442179: create permissions for both HTTP and HTTPS when no scheme is specified. Explicitly schemed origins and Thunderbird’s email-based remote-content exceptions should retain their existing behavior.
