User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.4) Gecko/20030529
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.4) Gecko/20030529

In IE, when I click the download button, the browser navigates to the image so I
can choose to download it.

In Mozilla, the browser attempts to download the image directly (without first
displaying the image)and fails, telling me the image is unreadable and I should
contact the systems administrator.

So far this has only happened for me at photos.com.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Find an image to download
2.Click the download button
3.Voila

Actual Results:
I got a message saying the 'source file could not be read. Pleast try again or
contact the systems administrator'

Expected Results:
Navigate to and display the image.
I tested with the butterfly example at the bottom of the page.
Content-Type: application/octet-stream this tells mozilla to download and save
it to a file.

I did notice that when I right click the image to save it I did not get a
correct jpeg file save. In responce to Mozilla's HEAD request it sent a HTTP
200 and then started to send the jpeg file. From what I understand this is not
what the HTTP spec says. This results in a file that is twice the size as normal.

While this sounds like a TE shouldn't mozilla be able to atleast catch problems
like this?
I'm going to look for some dupes.
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win98; en-US; rv:1.7b) Gecko/20040412

I successfully saved the files, and then got a dialog box with a download error
and the domain name. (I think I just saw another bug with the exact same symptoms.)

This might not be a download manager bug. cc'ing self in case I run across it
again.

MASS-CHANGE:
This bug report is registered in the SeaMonkey product, but has been without a comment since the inception of the SeaMonkey project. This means that it was logged against the old Mozilla suite and we cannot determine that it's still valid for the current SeaMonkey suite. Because of this, we are setting it to an UNCONFIRMED state.

If you can confirm that this report still applies to current SeaMonkey 2.x nightly builds, please set it back to the NEW state along with a comment on how you reproduced it on what Build ID, or if it's an enhancement request, why it's still worth implementing and in what way.
If you can confirm that the report doesn't apply to current SeaMonkey 2.x nightly builds, please set it to the appropriate RESOLVED state (WORKSFORME, INVALID, WONTFIX, or similar).
If no action happens within the next few months, we move this bug report to an EXPIRED state.
