Currently dragging and dropping a link in a directory (windows) places a
shortcut to that link in the directory.
This could be enhanced to save the target of the link to that directory, when a
modifier key (e.g. SHIFT) is pressed. This allows to download files to specific
directories much more easily.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.
2.
3.

Actual Results:
drag-drop a link to a directory with shift pressed does not do a "save link
target to directory"

Expected Results:
drag-drop a link to a directory with shift pressed should save the link target
to the directory.
confirming, with first guess at a better component classification.

I just submitted a new enhancement request at bug 248099 which is slightly more
elaborate.
Additionally, for different sets of modifier keys, let mozilla save the web page
as PS or PDF. Drag'n'drop as Postscript should also be doable by drag'n'dropping
the printer icon. (output as ps or pdf could be made configurable)

There even could be pref settings allowing to prepend the last-modified or
today's date to the filename etc.

Along with this RFE should go a general meta bug for desktop integration. See,
for example, bug 140751.

XDS (drag-n-drop saving) support (http://freedesktop.org/wiki/Standards_2fXDS)
would be most welcome. See also GNOME bug 171655:

Is it technically possible to implement it as an add-on ?
