Changes to the special folder (Sent, Drafts, etc.) paths for an IMAP account
require a restart to take effect.
I noticed this because the special folders don't seem to pick up the server
namespaces properly. Among other things this made send windows hang for a
considerable period of time while trying to save the message to my sent mail
folder. (See http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=146418) After changing
the paths I had to restart Mozilla before it would actually save messages to my
Sent or Drafts folder.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Change folder paths
2. Attempt to save a draft
Actual Results:
Long hang, presumably with eventual error
Expected Results:
Used the new path

This bug is resolved, but in the latest build:
Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.8a3) Gecko/20040729)
I changed the local folder/local directory path and there was no indication
of any kind that told me a restart was necessary for this change to take effect.
As is the case when, for example, changing the theme of mozilla.
But what makes it even worse is that the path change without a restart results
in strange/buggy behavior. It is still possible to move a message from the inbox
to a directory in the local folders, and that message will even be displayed in
the list-section, but the preview-section below will remain empty (or have the
contents of the last message selected in the inbox). Ans also when opening the
message in the directory of the local folders brings up an empty mail-message
(headers, menu- and toolbar are normal).
So I don't think this bug has really been resolved (at least not yet, in the
latest build).
I'm using linux (fedora core 2), gnome 2.6 and mozilla 1.7.1 (official release)
and 20040729 both behave the same.

Bug 224831 is already requested, it is still ignored though.

It's been resolved *as a duplicate* -- bug 2654, which is not (yet) resolved, is
where the problem is being dealt with.

I'm not sure - the original bug seems to be about changing the special folder
location for an imap account (e.g., picking a different sent folder), whereas
bug 2654 is about changing the local directory.
