Details

Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.5a) Gecko/20030702 This is a regression. I saw people mentioning this problem in other bugs but could not find a bug filed specifically on it. - subscribe to a newsgroup - View/Unread Actual: messages in thread pane are not threaded any more and the option Sort by/Thread is grayed out. Expected: messages can still be groupped by thread. I think this is very bad regression, because for many people filter Unread is the default environment for reading newsgroups.

Reopening. Bug 135326 is quite an old bug, it describes the problem that always existed. The present bug is about something which got broken recently and thus is a regression. I understand that underlaying cause of the problem may very well be the same in both these bugs, but it still regressed which means we had a special case for View/Unread mode and it is now gone.

Are you looking for View|Threads|Unread or View|Threads|Threads with Unread ?
No, I am talking about View/Messages/Unread. Or you can do the same with the drop box labeled 'View' at the top of the thread pane. If you choose this mode you cannot sort by thread any more, neither with the small button at the top left corner of the thread pane nor via menu View/Sort by/Thread which becomes grayed out. So, it is really simple: I want to see only unread messages and I want them to be sorted by thread. This was possible before. Looks like I can reach the type of view I want selecting View/Messages/All and View/Threads/Unread, but this is somewhat confusing and I am not sure it is the same paradigmatically.
I see the problem now. I believe this is a dupe of bug 209534, but rather than be overridden again, I'll leave that to your discretion.
