User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.3) Gecko/20030312 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.3) Gecko/20030312 Mozilla 1.4 crashes after installation. First I did install 1.4 over 1.3. After the installation mozilla can't start at all. I restarted the computer (just in case) - it didn't help. Then I uninstaled Mozilla, restarted and installed it again, but it crashed again... finally i went back to 1.3 Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3.
Reporter, does Mozilla crash in xpcom.dll? Then this is a dupe of bug 205277. Otherwise, it's INVALID, because you installed it on top of another installation.
Confrminging information: Mozilla 1.4 mozilla-win32-1.4-installer.exe crashes on first run after install on my Windows XP (all latests Microsoft updates applied). XP asked permission to send error report to Microsoft, and I said "yes". No Mozilla bug reporting queries came up. Successfully un-installed it and reinstalled Mozilla 1.3 with no loss (that I can see) settings.
On further looking, this probably same as 205277. I will go study that one further. I initially thought that an old one related to release candidates. Sorry for my wrong conclusion. I have un-installed 1.3 and attempted re-install of 1.4; failed. I un-installed 1.4, and searched for xpcom.dll to delete it (as suggested in other bug report). Could not find it. I installed 1.4 again; failed. Have gone back to 1.3. Repeating: I agree this seems same as 205277 but more than just over-install on a prev version is involved, I think.

OK, I installed 1.4 in fresh folder and It's OK. But this problem when Mozilla is upgraded is not new and need more attention in the future releases, because this browser should be used by users with very limited computer knowledge.
