Details
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.3.1) Gecko/20030425
Build Identifier: www.mozilla.org
Installer progress through the installation process. I get all the dialog boxes
asking the various options available. The installation proceeds to apparently
install the files on the workstation, but toward the end, an application error
is generated. This happens regardless if the full installer is used or the
stub-installer. I have downloaded the full-install to my local temp directory on
my hard drive and get the same result. I had no problem reinstalling Mozilla
V1.3.1 and getting it working.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Download release 1.4 installer
2. Execute Installer
3. Use all defaults in dialog boxes
4. Click on Install to install program
5. Program will crash toward end of installation
Actual Results:
Application Error message generated. Dialog Box: Mozilla.exe Application Error.
The Instruction @ "0x610f0769" referenced memory at "0x4349656f". The memory
could not be read.
Expected Results:
Should have finished installation with Icon on desktop and opened up browser to
default web page.

I am using a Dell Optiplex GX240 Workstation with Microsoft Windows 2000 SP1. It
has 1 GByte memory with 80 GByte disk. I have not had any problem with previous
installations of the Mozilla browser from V1.1, V1.2 and the latest V1.3.1 and
their derivatives. Installations have been smooth and problem free. I have tried
installing V1.4 with the following prior to installation. I tried removing
V1.3.1 using the "add/remove programs" feature in the Windows Settings dialog
box and then install V1.4. Same result. I tried rebooting my machine, closing
all applications running, same result. I reinstalled V1.3.1 and tried installing
over the top of V1.3.1 with V1.4, same result. I have downloaded multiple copies
thinking the download might not have been successful, but still get same
application error.

If you're using third party extensions (such as Spellchecker), uninstall will not
catch them, which causes problems. Manually clean out the directory you're
trying to install to and then try installing again.
