Details

For the past few builds I've begun to notice that my imported bookmarks 'jitter'
vertically when I mouse up or down over the displayed list. It only seems to do
it on bookmarks that are nested bookmarks. To be a little more simplistic (and
hopefully clear), when I mouse over my imported IE bookmarks and continue to a
folder underneath the display of the bookmarks 'jitter' vertically, it only does
this on my imported bookmarks and of those only when mousing to or from a folder
underneath imported bookmarks.. Possibly a reflow problem or somesuch.

Windows build 1999120815 on win98se imported books marks from ie 5.5 platform
preview...
I think this might have something do to with code from the old skin that somehow
worked its way into the new. (See bug 15558.)
OS: Windows 98 → All
Hardware: PC → All
BTW, the reporter is referring (I think) to the bookmarks menu on the personal
toolbar, not the menubar.

Marking All/All, since I see this on Linux.
No, I deifintely mean on the main menu bar, it also occurs on the personal
toolbar as well.
I believe I made the initial report while I was a wee bit intoxicated, let me
try and clear this up. :) To reproduce: Open mozilla, click Bookmarks from the
main menubar, click on Imported IE Favorites, scroll over any folder containing
links (this issue does not occur when scrolling over a link, only folders).
Result, the bookmarks jitter vertically. Similar to what I see happening in the
Personal Toolbar bookmark section, but in this case (the main menubar) it only
occurs under my imported IE bookmarks.

On windows, I only see this bug on the personal toolbar. It looks like the menu
gets slightly taller as I items lower in the list.

Reassigning to XPMenus.

Target Milestone: M15
I see this problem when the bookmarks list hits the bottom of the screen. At
that point the menu is first drawn too low and then redrawn higher up to show
all the items. It causes an annoying flickering when you browse over other
folders. (NT 4, Build 2000011908)
Yes, I see it a little clearer now. My imported bookmarks are sizeable in
number and when I scroll over a folder underneath the imported IE bookmarks (in
the main tool bar) it appears that mozilla attempts to draw the bookmark list
over my windows task space (start/apps/tray) and then decides not to do so,
thus causing a vertical jitter...
I think this bug is now covering two separate problems because the original
report didn't explain that a long list was necessary. Should it be split?
this bug is a dupe anyway. long bookmarks make the jittering more prominent.
As far as being long enough to obscure the windows toolbar- that sounds like a
different bug. Some further testing would be required to determine if it happens
independently.

Resolution: --- → DUPLICATE
take your pick. I'm resolving this as a dupe of bug 20518 which you passed to hyatt, so that's prolly
what you're thinking of. However this bug, bug 24340, and bug 21477 all seem to revolve around the same
theme but have landed with different owners (but the same QA :-), the system works) I beleive them to be
dupes but I'm not 100% sure yet.

*** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 20518 ***
I get the feeling that the other three bugs are the same, but this one might be
different. One of the bugs should deal with a bug in the CSS styles for the
personal toolbar. Which is that?
BULK MOVE: Changing component from XP Menus to XP Toolkit/Widgets: Menus. XP
Menus component will be deleted.
