User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.4b) Gecko/20030720 Mozilla Firebird/0.6
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.4b) Gecko/20030720 Mozilla Firebird/0.6

In the example page - there should be a form, and some comments from people
visiting this website. Instead - only the outline is displayed. This also
appears in Mozilla 1.4, but it does not seem to happen on the windows version.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Visit webpage described above

Actual Results:
Showed outline of a page

Expected Results:
Shown content and the outline
worksforme with linux 1.4.
can you try a clean profile?
This bug still occurs - with a clean profile.
I have the same problem with Standard mozilla 1.4-final on freebsd 5.1-current.
The outline shows on the page but there is no textual content or form. The same
bug was also present on mozilla 1.4b. I have also tested the page on mozilla
1.4-final running on gentoo linux and this shows the same issues. I can only get
the page to render properly on win32 mozilla.
WFM, 2003-07-27-05 trunk Linux
Works for me, Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.5b)
Gecko/20030727.
I have just tried this on mozilla firebird running on solaris sparc and the page
renders properly. Due to me finding it doesn't work on freebsd 5.1-current and
latest installed software available from CVS, and the same thing with gentoo I
suspect a library that mozilla/firebird gets linked to during compilation?

FreeBSD and gentoo are both going to have the latest libraries and maybe even
devel versions of them. This solaris box definatly has old libraries, and maybe
the people who have no problem and it works for also have older libraries.

If this is a possibility I can list the versions of the associated libs from
both my freebsd box which is affected and this solaris box which the page
renders fine on if you need it (and tell me which libs).
For an example of what we are seeing take a look at
http://content.xtaz.co.uk/top.png and http://content.xtaz.co.uk/bottom.png .
These are screenshots of the page with mozilla 1.4 final running on freebsd
5.1-current as of CVS on the 29th of july.

Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; FreeBSD i386; en-US; rv:1.4) Gecko/20030701

As I have mentioned before I see the same issue with this version compiled on
gentoo linux. However the page renders perfectly for me on a binary mozilla for
win32, and also a binary version of mozilla firebird for solaris.
I see this as well on Red Hat 9.
Are the builds on which you're seeing this GTK2 builds? Do you have GTK2 installed?

There are known bugs with opacity and some versions of GTK.

(Note that I'm seeing it on a GTK2-compiled build, i.e.,
--enable-default-toolkit=gtk2, and I don't see it on a GTK1-compiled build. If
you're also seeing it on a GTK2-compiled build, then this is a duplicate.)
Yes - this is on a GTK2 compiled build.
It's good to mention relevant details like that when filing bugs.
