Bruce: Could you reproduce this crash?
Severity: normal → critical
Keywords: crash
I believe the problem lies with my video driver.
I've experienced browser crashes quite frequently
for many unexplained reasons which I've never been able
to reproduce. I've since switched to Firebird. The
problem hasn't gone away but the frequency has been
greatly reduced. I'm running an older
machine (WIN98, Pentium 110)
Video specs:
ATI
Mach 64 Rage II
2MB memory
Version 4.02
My monitor is a Compaq V75
My optimal color setting (that works correctly)
seems to be limited to High Color (16 Bit). I've
tried other selections (256 color or True color 32 Bit)
with negative results.
I may have to live with it until such time as I can
afford a new computer. I've tried updating the Adaptor
through Windows Update however the result always
returns negative. I get a message that an updated
version could not be located however another driver was
found that MIGHT work. The driver description returned
from MS that might work is ATI_M64 dated 4-23-99.
Sounds much like the one I already have installed.

are you using latest up-to-date graphic drivers ? I remember there were issues
with ATI cards and old drivers in the past, see bug 104992.
The release notes mention possible crashes:

Bruce - if you're still out there and can reproduce this problem with a recent
build of Mozilla (or Firefox), please reopen and comment again with details. thanks.
