Details
Similar to Outlook's ability to link and embed different objects (events, tasks,
emails, etc.), but not quite. Tasks and events should be able to reference each
other, using a custom property (X-MOZ-REFERENCE?) since this sort of
functionality does not exist in RFC 2445. In other words, I should be able to
link an event to a task (or event to event, task to task, etc.), whether freely,
or having one depend upon the other (event invalid unless task complete, etc.).
This should also extend to e-mail and address book entries, but with a
stand-alone not attached to Mail (Tbird) I am doubtful that such would work.

Another option that would be nice would be to allow Tasks to show up on the
Calendar. At this point I have to create the Task & then create an Event so it
will show up on the calendar. This gets annoying.

I think this should be done by using the related-to property. The thing is how do we relate them ?
By drag and drop of a item into another ? This would be great as we could use this behaviour for subtasks, too.
I think christian is needed here as he is the responsible for the ui. This bug is IMHO related to bug 301117.

The broader version of this is in bug #137777, should we mark it as duplciate?

Thanks for looking at this, Felix!
However, reference links between events and tasks seem to be something very different, at least from usage perspective. Cannot judge the perspective of technical implementation, though.
And .... if it's marked as a duplicate, it's very likely to be completely forgotten.

Lets just comment on the new bug, that should be sufficient :-)
