email and mailing list services need to be moved to rheet as part of the process of transitioning mozilla.org to the Mozilla Foundation. Preliminary work can be done now, but rheet needs to land in its new colo space before the final switch is flipped.
mail.mozilla.org CNAME rheet.mozilla.org rheet.mozilla.org A 207.126.111.202 The move seems to have been done. Is this responsible for the huge amount of double posts on news.mozilla.org? like news://news.mozilla.org:119/mailman.1064464081.12374.mozilla-seamonkey@mozilla.org
Yes. Dawn spent most of last night trying to stop the duplicates. She *appears* to have succeeded, I haven't seen any dupes yet this morning, but I don't know for sure that she did. The only posts that are duplicating are things that were posted via NNTP. If you mailed it in, it didn't get duped.
Still seeing duplication today via NNTP single-posting. /be
under the old newsgroup mirroring system, the nntp server pushes new posts to the mailing list. Mailman, however wants to pull posts. Right now we're getting duplicates because articles posted via usenet are getting both pushed and pulled. I tried telling mailman to stop pulling from usenet but then new posts coming from nntp got held because they weren't on the mailing list, so i changed things back so we didn't lose posts. I think the best way to fix the problem might be to make the news server stop pushing but i'm going to experiment with adding the nntp server's from address to the group's whitelist. i'm afraid doing it that way might result in mailman reposting the message to usenet again but we'll see what happens.
