Details
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.5a) Gecko/20030728 Mozilla Firebird/0.6.1 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.5a) Gecko/20030728 Mozilla Firebird/0.6.1 If you enter part of a URL in the location bar, then switch to a different tab, then switch back to the original tab, the text you typed in the location bar is gone. This is annoying, especially when trying to paste together a URL from two lines of text, e.g. http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/enter_bu g.cgi?product=Firebird I would like to paste that URL (split across lines) into the location bar belonging to a different tab, but I can't find any way to do this. Every time I switch to a different tab and back again, what I had previously typed in the bar is lost. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Start Firebird. 2. C-t to open a new tab. The second tab is now displayed. 3. Type 'hello'. This text appears in the location bar. 4. Click on the header for the first tab to switch to that tab. 5. Click on the header for the second tab to switch back to the second tab. Actual Results: When I switched back to the second tab, the text 'hello' I had typed was gone. Expected Results: The partially typed URL should have been preserved, ready for the user to type or paste some more.

This has regressed in the 2004-09-05 nightly build of Firefox, however it is not quite so easy to reproduce. It seems to depend on whether there is a port number in the URI, for example: http://foo:8080/ If I select that text in Firefox (eg selecting it from the text edit box while entering this bug report), press C-t to open a new tab and paste the text into that tab, then switch to another tab and back again, the text disappears. I can reproduce this every time. (Interestingly, if the URI I enter is an initial substring of one I've looked at recently, then when clicking to switch away to another tab I momentarily see the URI get autocompleted and highlighted before the other tab is displayed. It has still disappeared by the time I switch back.) When this bug was first filed a chain of marked-as-duplicate led from it to #231393. However it is not quite the same bug - this one doesn't depend on a 'bad link' - and while this bug has regressed, #231393 has not.
