Would like to have the folders view filtered to show only those folders with
unread messages. Think of it as an analog to the wonderful Threads with Unread
mode for the message list view.

Ideally there would have an on-screen button near the folder list to toggle in
and out of this mode.

I believe this is related, but is there a conscious reason to not include the
"Unread" and "Total" or "Size" fields in the folder view (specifically in Mail)
like Mozilla's MailNews client does?

Specifically, there is no "Click to select columns to display" selector in the
folder view pane, only in the ... umm ... the other view (message view pane?)

This may be getting a little off topic, however.

In Thunderbird 1.0 you can create a "Saved Search Folder" with unread messages.
