Details

User-Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1; .NET CLR 1.1.4322)
Build Identifier: Mozilla Thunderbird 0.2a (20030820)

When I'm in the begining of an importing process of more than 5.000 mail
messages that I have in the Outlook 2002 (the email client I'm still using),
Thunderbird stop importing and crashes after that (before the middle of the
process).

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Just follow the steps to import messages from my Outlook 2002, which contains
more than 5.000 mail messages.
Actual Results:
The same.

Expected Results:
Thunderbird should complete the importing process. This problem is critical
because Mozilla loses the Outlook users who try to migrate to Thunderbird.

I also have this same problem; Thunderbird 0.5 chokes on import of a large
number of messages from Outlook 2000. I can provide the .pst being used if it
is of any help...
Also worth noting is that the import process seems to start at an arbitrary
point. The messages that were successfully imported ranged from A-Z in both
subject and sender and from 6/22/2003 to 7/20/2003, but the dates for the entire
data set were from 9/21/2000 to 11/9/2003.

Call it an educated guess, but I don't think the import function was coded to
start at such an arbitrary point; is my assumption incorrect?
Sorry, that was Thunderbird v0.6
2/17/05 -- I have also experienced reproduceable crashes of Thunderbird v1.0 when I ask it to import
email from Outlook 2000 under Win2K-SP4. My PST email folder is 115megs, gives Outlook no
problems and has been scanned by MS ScanPST.exe utility for errors (none found).

Thunderbird crashes ("error log file being generated") at the same place each time; about 20% thru the
import process. I have not been able to determine where the error.log is stored, or if it actually is being
created and have not been able to learn from the Thunderbird/Mozilla website where it's default
location might be.

Unfortunately if I can not get Thunderbird to import my email I will have to stick with Outlook - ugh.
