Build Identifier: Mozilla Thunderbird 0.2 (20030901)
Everytime I import my mails from Outlook Express some of then are shown in the
View List [the list of emails] with a blank / empty Subject, - as Sender and
the date is 6/2/2101 06:28 [d/m/yyyy hh24:mi].
I tried to find some pattern or something similar in these emails but couldn't.
The only think it has in comum is that it have a lot os adresseses in the To
line but other messages with more adresseses dont seem to get problem.
I tried to re-import from outlook and it always give error on the same
messages.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.Tool -> Import... -> Mail -> Outlook Express
2.
3.
Actual Results:
It starts to convert mailboxes from Outlook express
Importing...
Then says that Mail was succesfully imported from Outlook Express
but when i go to see the messages I get the error described in Details
Expected Results:
Give me an error or displayed the messages in the right way. :)
Im using WinXP with Outlook Express 6.00.2600.1123

I'm seeing the same problem, also in Win XP, using the latest nightly trunk
build. Missing subject, same weird date. If I look at the full message, the
correct date and subject are listed, so the info hasn't been lost, it's just
never displayed.
In my case, I'm only seeing it in some messages in my Sent box. All of them just
had one recipient, so it's not the To: list.

I had another look at all my messages displaying the bug.
All of them had a "References" field in the header which was so long that it was
truncated. The correct header info was present in the original message in
Outlook Express. Why that would affect the date and subject display in the view
list, I'm not sure, since the date and time data are obviously still there. It's
another field entirely which has been truncated.
I'm not sure of the exact cut-off point for truncation during import, but it
looks like it's around 900 characters.
Gustavo, are you seeing a similar truncation with your 'To:' field? Or maybe
'References', like I'm seeing?
I'm upgrading the severity of this, because it's causing actual data loss during
import.
Severity: normal → major

No matter. Hopefully the Thunderbird team already have enough info to track the
bug down.
I'd test further, by editing individual mails, but I don't know how to get
Thunderbird to open/import single mail messages from a specified location.

I have been getting the blank subject and "-" sender headers, with Thunderbird
0.6. --Just started last night (I've been using TB0.6 for over a month now).
I was also using POPFile -- a POP-Proxy that filters spam -- and the strange
part was the message-summary screen in POPFile *also* showed blank-subject/"-"
sender in the POP-headers. Thus I suspected it was POPFile and switched to
SpamBayes, however I still saw this happen once under SpamBayes.
I'm no POP expert, but is it possible that Thunderbird can be erroneously
modifying my mailbox via POP at the mail-server?

Out of curiosity, is anyone looking at this bug? I see Thunderbird is having a
mass-migration tomorrow. I'd love to join in, but I can't switch over until I
can do so without losing any old data in the process. :(

I apologize. I should have checked the latest build before posting. The import
works properly in the 20040809 trunk nightly. I can finally get rid of OE! :)
Unless someone else (Gustavo, David?) can reproduce this bug in a recent
nightly, I'll set it as closed in a couple of days.

It's a dupe of bug 216613 anyway. Sorry for the spam.

Using Thunderbird - version 0.7.3 (20040803)
I imported an older mail folder. Subject lines are ok. Date is set to 02/06/2101
Seems to affect only mails sent before 5/9/2001 .??
