does this bug still exist? Is the proxy config editfield the only place the
arrow keys don't work in an editfield?
Matt, if this is still a bug and affects more than that one editfield, feel free
to reassign it to me.

yes, this is still a problem, and it's not limited to this particular textfield.
seems to occur in all textfields in Preferences, and all platforms. updating
summary. i also don't think it's trivial since the user can no longer edit the
text (unless s/he clicks in the field again)
here's the recipe:
1. open Preferences.
2. go to any panel that has a textfield, eg, Advanced > Proxies, Navigator, etc.
3. click in the textfield and enter some text.
4. move the cursor (with the left arrow key) a few times; it should and does
move as expected.
5. move the cursor (with the right arrow key) all the way to the end of the
string you entered.
6. hit the right arrow key again.
result: the cursor disappears. unable to move to the left, either. also unable
to enter/edit the text.
workaround: click in the textfield and the cursor reappears.
might be wishful thinking, but am nominating for beta1.
Severity: trivial → normal

Summary: Arrow keys do not work in the Automatic proxy config field → Arrow-keying to end of textfields makes cursor disappear

sairuh--please nominate bug #25930 since that bug is properly assigned to mjudge
