User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.5) Gecko/20030925
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.5) Gecko/20030925

In a window exculsively showing one bookmark folder, a sort by a column sorts
the entire set of boomarks, not just elements in the particular folder.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Either from the Personal Toolbar or from Bookmark Manager, choose "open in
new window" from any bookmark folder's context menu.
2. Click on one of the "buttons" at the top of the columns (usually labelled
Name, Location, or Description).
3. Confirm sort.

Actual Results:
The entire collection of bookmarks is sorted.

Expected Results:
Mozilla should sort just the said folder, or better yet it should skip the
confirmation dialog and go straight to displaying the same window that appears
when I select "sort folder..." from the context menu of a folder in bookmark
manager (AND sort just the folder).
Summary: boomark manager: out of scope sorting → bookmark manager: out of scope sorting

Agreed... This is how I would expect the behavior also. Confirmed!

"open in new window" feature is not available anymore, sort in one folder resets after going to other folder, so closing this
