22381 - Proxy problems

I use a proxy requiring userid and password.

1. Changeing proxy preferences does not work immediately: browser restart is
required.

2. Automatic proxy configuration seems not to work correctly: Connecting to a
site a white screen is displayed and the console shows an URL error message.

3. Manual configuration seems somehow to work, but I get no login prompt for my
proxy server, so I cannot connect to any site outside the firewall.

Issue 1 is an annoying workaround, reported elsewhere.

Issue 2 is a known issue, and will get fixed.

Issue 3 is also known and is a DUPLICATE of bug 22405, "implement proxy
authentication"  ... i.e., that still isn't ready yet ...

[e-mail], please file only one problem per bug report... each valid bug
report that is not a duplicate normally becomes a work item for a software
engineer, and filing multiple problems per report gets in the way of that.
