RESOLVED DUPLICATE of bug 222563

Details

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.5) Gecko/20031026 Firebird/0.7 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.5) Gecko/20031026 Firebird/0.7 Open Preferences. Choose the "Downloads" preference pane. Select an item in the File Type list, then click "Change Action". Select the "Open them in this application" button and then click "Change" (if necessary). In the resulting File/Folder dialog box that comes up, you're supposed to pick the Application that will handle this File Type from now on. However, all Applications are "greyed out" (can't choose them). Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: (see Details) Actual Results: All applications are "greyed out" (can't select them). Folders can be opened (so the hierarchy can be traversed), but you can only ultimately select "files", not applications. Expected Results: Applications should be able to be chosen from the dialog box.
After submitting this, I finally found another bug that's somewhat similar: #222563 (filed by Nathan, so I added him to this CC list, and me to his). That one is filed against Thunderbird 0.3, though, not Firebird (0.7/nightly). Still, I'm betting that there's some shared code (or philosophy) in there somewhere that's causing these problems on Mac OS X. Looking forward to a fix! :-)
downloads is a shared backend in the mozapps toolkit, so this is a dupe. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 222563 ***
