Details

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.5) Gecko/20031007 Firebird/0.7
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.5) Gecko/20031007 Firebird/0.7

When going online, only one message is sent and not moved to the Sent folder.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Write multiple messages when offline.
2. Go online: a popup window asks whether you want to send the unsent messages.
3. Answer Yes.
Actual Results:
From the various messages in the Unsent folder, only one is really sent. The
others remain in the Unsent message folder. Furthermore, the message that was
sent is not moved to the Sent folder.

Expected Results:
Mozilla should have sent all messages in the Unsent messages folder and have
them moved to the Sent folder.

I managed to send the email messages by going offline and online until all
messages were sent. However, now I am not sure whether they were really sent.

I lost the email messages that were sent; they should have been moved to the
Sent folder, but now I don't have copies of them.
I can confirm this in Linux - Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.6)
Gecko/20040113 as well as on WXP - Thunderbird 0.5

This exact behavior is triggered when the default folders are IMAP folders and
the IMAP server is not accessible while going on-line and sending queued messages.

This might be also a dupe of other IMAP offline/online bugs as I see so many of
them and yet I'm only in 1/3 of the list.

Maybe a large tracking bug for more of these?

An addition: Mozilla Mail/TBird behaves this way when "Place a copy of sent
messages" in Accounts --> Copies & Folders is set onto the default option, the
"Sent" folder ON THE IMAP account.

Setting it to Sent on "Local Folders" is a workaround. However it's quite a
nasty gimmick. It is only helping when you're out of reach of the main IMAP
server. When connection to IMAP server is ok, then having all your sent mail
queued in Local folders is completely undesirable.

There should be either:

a) some kind of revert mechanism allowing Local folders' resync once IMAP server
can be reached

b) more specific setting of off-line on-line attribute to each particular
account, possibly combined with different "save in folder" countermeasures
Hmm. This one is an exact dupe of 215044

This is not a duplicate of 215044, because this ticket concerns a local Sent
folder, not IMAP based.
