I moved my old Eudora mailboxes into Thunderbird and It doesn't display old HTML
formatted E-mail. I just get the code with tags and all. Any new incoming HTML
E-mails display fine.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open old HTML E-mail
2.
3.
Actual Results:
I see this:
<x-html>
<HTML>
<BODY bgcolor="white">
<table align="center" border="0" bordercolor="black" cellpadding="0"
cellspacing="0" width="550">

and so on...
Expected Results:
The usual fancy eye-candy retarded HTML E-mail that was sent to me.
Thunderbird 0.4a (20031026)
This bug still persists in Thunderbird 0.7.2.
Furthermore, this bug entry should be fixed.
The summary, in a word, sucks. Try this on for size: "Imported HTML e-mail from
Eudora displays as plain-text". I don't know of this problem occuring with
other conversions.
The OS this is causing problems in isn't Linux (while I suppose one could
reproduce it there, Eudora is a Windows/Mac application, and that is where the
problem shows up). I know that this problem exists in Windows, I cannot be
certain about OS 9/X.
The component should be "Migration", not Mail Window Front End.
That said, as far as severity goes, considering that if I can't migrate my mail
from Eudora, I won't use Thunderbird, I'd put it's severity at something a tad
higher than 'normal'.
I don't want to open up a new bug report (since bugzilla says that annoys
engineers), but this bug, which people are still talking about in the forums
(downloading Perl scripts isn't something that you want your parents to start
doing), hasn't had any activity since November 2003. Maybe assign it to someone
who isn't being swamped in other, show-stopping bugs? There are currently 698
bugs assigned to Scott marked as 'NEW'. Maybe spread those around?
I can reproduce this bug reliably too.
In addition I'd like to second L McCrowe comments about summary, OS, severity
and especially reassignment, since - together with bug 242492 (also assigned to
Scott) - this bug is a real show-stopper for me.

Scott's fix to the Seamonkey bug abuot this problem was checked in on 16-Jul-04
(coincidentally the same date as the previous comment in this bug).
Note that bug 3157 comment 78 et seq mention another problem, with "rich"
messages not being tweaked properly. The patch for this was checked in last
week (bug 257058) with apparently one problem remaining (bug 257555).
