The Thunderbird address book window has a bar that says "Name or Email
contains". Typing text there only looks in the name or the email. It should also
look in the Nickname field.
Take for instance somebody called William who is commonly called Bill. One would
have William as the official name and Bill as nickname. Typing Bill in the bar
should also present our friend Bill.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Go to the Address book window
2. Type a nickname in the field "Name or Email contains".
Actual Results:
Persons with that nickname are not presented in the filtered results.
Expected Results:
All persons with that nickname should be presented in the filtered results.

...in particular, when typing an address (e.g., to:, cc:, etc.), NICKNAMES that
match what's typed should be matched (e.g., typing "laurief" should pick up last
name "Furumoto", first name "Laurie", nickname "lauriefurumoto"--it doesn't now).
Possibly(?) also related to bug #s 295428, 224863, 298438

I don't agree with that statement; I'm not sure it's even what you intended
to say. Typing "laurief" should only match on nickname "lauriefurumoto" and
an email address of "laurief@wherever.tld" -- other people named "Laurie" or "Furumoto" should not be selected as a match.
If Address Book were a Core component (like it obviously should be), we could dupe this to the other bug.

Address Book is already present as a core component, however product specific areas still remain as some of the UI is branched (hence why we still have MAS/Address Book and Thunderbird/Address Book. Bug 118624 is now in Core/Mailnews: Address Book so I'm duping this one to that.
