I'm having exactly the same problem. (Yes, I'm using the just released firefox,
no nightly orso). Is this only a problem with existing profiles?? (should
probably do some more checking).

Strange. I removed my old profile. After adding some bookmarks I could request
the properties. Just I was filing an update to this bug..., I tried again, and
guess what? Now it doesn't show up anymore...
Race condition?

The problem had gone away with my installation of Firefox 0.8. However, a while
ago, it was back. A restart of the browser corrected the problem. Unfortunately,
I was unable to recreate whatever it was that caused it to reapear. I did try a
few things, such as using UserAgent Switcher, but to no avail, so, for now, this
is an intermittent "I don't know."

At first I was getting this same bug, but when I closed Firefox and reopened it
(on a suggestion from comment 3), I haven't been able to reproduce it at all.
I'm using Firefox 0.8:
Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.6) Gecko/20040207 Firefox/0.8

Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7a) Gecko/20040213 Firefox/0.8:
1. Bookmark Properties inaccessible from Bookmarks on Toolbar, even with new
profile.
2. Curiously, Properties are accessible from a Personal Toolbar Folder icon
(moved up to the Toolbar.)
3. Properties are accesible from within the Bookmarks Manager.

The problem is back; it started with yesterday's Firefox release, is present in
today's. (Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7a)
Gecko/20040220 Firefox/0.8.0+)
Here's something interesting about this bug. I was playing around with Bug
197112 and I found this:
1. Open up the Bookmarks menu and right click on a bookmark.
2. Click on another menu and the context menu should remain open.
3. Go back to the Boookmarks menu and open up the Bookmark Manager.
4. Now go back to the context menu and click properties.
5. It works!
This is probably unimportant and meaningless but I thought I'd report it anyways.

According to bug 234116 comment 16 (made by the reporter of this bug), this is a
dup of bug 234116. I assume that means he only sees this bug in subfolders of
the bookmarks menu.

In reply to Comment #10, yes, Jesse, that is correct: If I click on a bookmark
that is not in a subfolder, the property sheet appears, but not if the bookmark
is inside a subfolder.
