Details

3-pane mail UI, click on a URL, mail statusbar spins,
browser window does nothing.
Does the URL get loaded into the browser window?
Assignee: phil → mscott
I do see the browser window load the URL, but we don't spin the animation in the
browser window. Reassign to mscott?
Yes, URL loads in browser window after *mail window*
does the animation & statusbar spinning.
This stuff used to work before the holidays...Rick broke it when he he landed
some doc loader stuff.

Marking as a dup of the bug I'm using to track the uri dispatching problems from
mail that arose from that landing.

mcafee, the animation in the mail window *should* spin when you first click on
the link. Until we discover the content type of the link and figure out which
window should handle that content, we are opening the url in the mail window.

I think the time the mail window takes to figure
out who should handle the URL is way too long;
I guess I'm used to 4.x bring the browser window
forward almost-immediately, mozilla is ? an order
of magnitude slower to do this.
Well we are beginning to download the document. That time is only bounded by the
normal download time for the document. We re-route the data stream in mid flight
to the browser window so we aren't re-downloading the document.

I think your complaint may be better directed towards slow download times for
the document. As soon as we've downloaded enough to figure out the content we
redirect it.
