Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.7b) Gecko/20040225
(other example URL: http://www.macsurfer.com)
I have Hoefler Text set as my Serif font and Tahoma as my sans serif font;
Macintouch and MacSurfer don't set a font and I read them using Hoefler Text as
my default. Was working in the nightly for 23 Jan (pre-1.7a).
Installed the latest nightly from 25 Feb and now these two sites and others are
only displaying in Times (New Roman?). In preferences, it still shows Hoefler
Text as my Serif font. Switched to another font (American Typewriter);
preference took but display of pages still showed Times. Switched default of
Proportional font to Sans Serif and it switched to Sans, but displayed only
Helvetica, not Tahoma or others.
Other sites that set their own fonts seem to be displaying properly. Can see
Tahoma and Verdana on other sites, for example.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Load site that does not select fonts
2.
3.
Actual Results:
System default fonts displayed.
Expected Results:
User selected default fonts displayed.

Peter, any chance you could narrow down somewhat when this broke?

It was between the 23 Jan 2004 nightly and the 25 Feb nightly -- I hadn't
downloaded any of the builds in the meantime because of lack of time and seeing
reports of crashing on launch from bug 232972.
Basically, 20040123 works (it's still in my trash and I just retested), and
20040225 doesn't. Sorry not to have anything more precise.

Maybe...(In reply to comment #2)
> It was between the 23 Jan 2004 nightly and the 25 Feb nightly
Right. You said that in comment 0. The problem is that there are hundreds of
checkins in that range and that I cannot reproduce the problem you are reporting
with a current Linux build (I even tried setting my serif font to Helvetica, and
that was what I saw on pages). So I can't narrow down the regression range
myself; anything you can do to help that would would be great.... There are
nightlies on the ftp site going back all the way to Jan 18, so it should be
possible to narrow to within a day (though I would start with checking the
builds around when bug 235089 regressed).
Depends on: 235089

Ah. Clarity. You're asking me to more proactively try to find when it regressed,
not just asking for clarification. OK, yes, I can do that. Will see if I can get
any of those other nightlies to load and will report back.

Further testing: Bug not there in the special test nightly for 18 Feb
(2004021810-1.7a-OSX-10.2.8-test). Bug not there in the official 1.7a release,
also from 18 Feb.
No nightlies were compiled for Mac between 19 Feb and 25 Feb that I can see. Am
not a coder or developer so have not tried to figure out how to build my own.
Hope this helps in narrowing things down.

Somewhat, yes. Restricting to just things that landed after 1.7a shipped (and
before 2/25) helps a good bit...
peterv, any chance you could take a look at this, since you have a mac?
