Details

my news.mozilla.org newsgroup keeps showing me that there's one new post in
netscape.public.mozilla.dom but when I go to the newsgroup there's no new posting.

I've tracked it down to the "news.mozilla.org.rc" file

In a working copy I have:
netscape.public.mozilla.dom: 1-7845

and in the NON working copy I have:
netscape.public.mozilla.dom: 1-7790,7792-7845

is there a bug in the NNTP code?
ok. a little more investigation:
7791 which is the missing posting number is a cancelled message.

so when I connect I get:
Receiving: 211 7251 3 7845 netscape.public.mozilla.dom

so Mozilla says that I have one new posting.

since mozilla thinks I've read: 1-7790,7792-7845
and the server has 7845 postings

Summary: newsgroups always shows one new post but there's none → newsgroups always shows one new post but there's none (due to cancelled posting)
